Jared Brawner Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

Kansas City, Mo. -  Missouri Southern junior linebacker Jared Brawner has been named the MIAA's Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Brawner, a 6-1, 237 pound native of Kirksville, Mo., tied a career high with 16 tackles, 11 solo in a 28-0 win at Fort Hays State this past week. He had three tackles for loss -- two of which came on fourth down to force a change in possession. FHSU was 0-for-5 on fourth down conversions.

He also had a fumble recovery on the Tigers' 15-yard line which led to the second Southern TD of the game. Brawner leads the MIAA in tackles (10.7 ttpg).
