Former Lion Yancy McKnight named strength and conditioning coach at Iowa State

Joplin, Mo. -  Former Missouri Southern All-American offensive lineman Yancy McKnight has been named the new strength and conditioning coach at Iowa State University.

McKnight, a 2001 graduate of Southern, played for the Lions from 1993-95 after transferring from Missouri State University. A Joplin native, McKnight was a three-time first-team All-MIAA selection and was a first-team Football Coaches and Football Gazette All-American selection in 1995. He played in the 1995 Snow Bowl (the predecessor to the current Catus Bowl) which is the Division II post-season all-star game.

McKnight had spent two years at Rice University in Houston, Texas as the assistant athletic director for performance enhancement, and prior to that, served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana Tech.
This past season the Rice football team went 9-3 and defeated Western Michigan in the Texas Bowl.
