Broussard named MIAA Co-Player of the Week

Overland Park, Kan. - After rushing for four touchdowns and 172 yards against Pittsburg State on Saturday, Missouri Southern senior running back, Alley Broussard has been named the MIAA Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Broussard shares the award with Pittsburg State running back Caleb Ferabi. The two backs accounted for the two highest rushing totals in the MIAA this season as Ferabi ran for 179 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions in the Miner's Bowl this past Saturday.

Broussard's four touchdowns are the second most ever in a game at Southern, second only to Albert Bland's five against Washburn in 1994. The four td's are tied for tops in a game in the MIAA this year, as is his 24 points. His first touchdown of the game was a 67-yarder that he broke for in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 10-7. It is the second-longest rushing touchdown in the MIAA this year.

In the two games Broussard has played in this year for the Lions, he's rushed for 283 yards on 34 carries and five touchdowns. He's averaging 141 yards per game and 8.3 per carry.

The Lions will be back in action this Saturday, September 22 when they travel to Bolivar to take on Southwest Baptist at 6 pm.
