FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Barbre was a Daktronics All-Southwest Region first team member and was the lone offensive player this year to be a unanimous All-MIAA selection. He was a preseason d2football.com and Don Hansen's Football Gazette first team All-American selection this year. He helped lead an offensive line that saw quarterback Adam Hinspeter (Centralia, Mo.) become just the second passer in Southern history to throw for 2,000 yards twice in a career. A 2005 third team AFCA All-Southwest Region selection, Barbre helped the Lions to 3,769 total yards including 2,844 passing. In 2004, he helped the team to a school record 3,575 passing yards and 1,408 on the ground. Barbre was one of three MIAA selections. Northwest Missouri tight end Mike Peterson and Washburn defensive lineman Trey Lewis joined Barbre. Barbre is Southern's first All-American since Josh Chapman in 2002, and is the first to be named to First-Team since Richard Jordan in 1996. He is the fifth offensive lineman at Southern to be named First-Team All-American joining the likes of Terron Jackson (1972), Willie Williams (1976), Joel Tupper (1982) and Yancy McNight (1995). He is the ninth Lion overall to be named First-Team All-American.
