Missouri Southern to kick off spring football Sunday JOPLIN, Mo. - New head coach Bart Tatum and his recently-hired staff will lead the Missouri Southern Lions into spring football practice, which begins Sunday (March 5) at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. Approximately 80 football student-athletes will participate in spring drills, which consists of 15 practice dates throughout the month of March and early April. Spring football at MSSU wraps up on April 8 with a scrimmage at 12:40 p.m. The public is invited to attend. "It's not really a spring game," Tatum said. "It's more of a culminating practice." The Lions also have a scrimmage scheduled for 5:05 p.m. on March 16 just before spring break. Missouri Southern opens the 2006 season on Sept. 2 at home against Ouachita Baptist (Ark.). That's one of six home games on the full 11-game regular season schedule for the Lions in the coming season. Below is a complete schedule of the Lions' 2006 spring practices.
