Darnell adds a another left handed junior college pitcher

Joplin, Mo. - Missouri Southern baseball coach Bryce Darnell has announced the signing of Allen County Community College pitcher Brenden Hoag to a national letter of intent to attend Southern and play baseball beginning in the fall of 2008.

Hoag, a 6'3, 200 pound left handed pitcher, is a Joplin native and played baseball at Joplin HS for coach Kirk Harryman.

Last season as a freshman at Allen County, Hoag went 1-2 with a 6.26 ERA, with 24 strikeouts in 23 innings for coach Valis McLean and the Red Devils.

Hoag helped Joplin to two district championships as a player in 2005 and 2006.

"Brenden is the type of pitcher that we set out to get to help bolster our starting rotation," Darnell said. "He's a tremendous competitor and should step in and help us out immediately."
