FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Arkadelphia, Ark. - The Missouri Southern baseball team dropped both ends of a double-header today at second ranked Ouachita Baptist, losing 12-2 in game one and 6-1 in game two at Rab Rogers Field in Arkadelphia. Southern (1-12) fell in a big hole in game one, trailing 11-0 after three innings. The Lions would get a run back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Scott Klassen, scoring Juan Hernandez. Southern got another run in the seventh when Derek Ezell doubled to left center to start the inning. He moved over to third on a ground out and scored when Matt Imrie reached on an error. Hernandez led the Lions with two hits, while four others had a hit each. Jacob Garrison threw 3.2 innings of hitless relief. OBU (21-2) got on top with four runs in the first inning of game two and added two more in the fourth to go up 6-0. The Lions scored their lone run in the fifth when Cliff Wheeler tripled home Skyler Rawlins. Wheeler had two hits for the Lions, while CJ Matthews and Hernandez had a hit each. Austin Lawrence started and pitched two innings, while Matt Mantle threw four innings in relief. Mantle struck out three and allowed just two runs. Southern will be back in action tomorrow (March 10) afternoon, playing host to Indianapolis at 2 pm at Joe Becker Stadium. |
