Drawing/painting: drawing studio with tables, benches, easels, professional models
...and a surround sound for music.

 

 


Graphic Design:

Two Macintosh computer labs, wireless internet, Epson large format printers, black & white and color laser printers, the latest Adobe software, G-5 computers and large digital photo studio.

Ceramics:

A ventilated main studio containing 13 powered potters wheels, a Bailey Slab Roller, Clay Extruder, wedging and working tables, Clay and Glaze mixing Area with a Spraybooth, Bluebird Clay mixer(s), and a vertical pug mill. Two additional kiln rooms house 5 kilns: three electric kilns, a gas-fired Raku Kiln with hoist, and a Bailey 35 cubic foot, downdraft, forced-air, natural gas kiln.

Sculpture/foundry: modeling, carving, wood and metal fabrication, welding, casting. Furnace and crucibles for casting bronze or aluminum, some metal cutting equipment, a sandblasting cabinet, and welding equipment including an oxy/ace torch, 5 stick welders and a plasma torch. For woodworking: band and scroll saws, sander, jointer, planer, mitre box saw, table saw--all with a sawdust ventilation system, and multiple hand tools.

Graphic Design:
If you want to be in the graphic design/communication field then the Graphic Communications emphasis is the major to choose. We have many internship opportunities.

Studio Art:

The degree program with studio emphasis prepares you to pursue a career as a fine artist or to study for an advanced degree. You may specialize in any studio area - painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, drawing, watercolor or printmaking.

Art Education:

So you have always wanted to teach your love of visual art. Art education is the path to choose. Many art education programs require your education courses with few studio art classes. MSSU art education graduates become well prepared as artists/educators.
