Freshmen Orientation and Enrollment Program

All freshmen are required to attend a Southern Welcome Orientation session because orientation is one of the first important steps to a smooth transition to college life and to persistence in college. A reservation is needed.
On this website, you will find information about the agenda, other programming information, links to other MSSU sites such as Health Center medical forms, Placement Information and other important information for a smoother transition to MSSU.
For the spring semester, we offer one Southern Welcome orientation session for all incoming freshmen.

Please submit your reservation through the Online Reservation Form or call the Southern Welcome office at 417-625-3158, or by stop by the Southern Welcome office, Hearnes Hall 314

Southern Welcome Dates:

• If you have been admitted into the MSSU Honors Program, please call the Southern Welcome office at 417-625-3158 to make your reservation for April 24th.
• If you are planning on taking summer classes, please select either April 23^rd or April 24^th Southern Welcome dates.
• MSSU Athletes Southern Welcome date: If you have been accepted to play college sports for MSSU, please select the June 10^th as your Southern Welcome date.

Parent/Guest Program

The Southern Welcome orientation is designed with both students and parents in mind, so we offer a concurrent Parent/Guest program on the same day.
We believe each student is embedded in a family that support the students and so we give the family the opportunity to participate in the orientation program and to get most of the same information we give the students, meet other parents, and address parent questions and concerns.
There is a $10 Parent/Guest fee per parent or guest to cover cost of programming. There is no fee for young children.
