Intensive English Dual Program (IEDP)

The Intensive English Dual Program (IEDP) will offer students a great deal of flexibility to meet their English language needs. The program allows students to enroll at Missouri Southern State College and to choose between two (dual) popular options without having the minimal TOEFL or Michigan Exam scores normally required for admission to college.

Students may select one of the following opportunities:
· Concentrate full-time on improving their English skills in an intensive program of up to 25 or more hours per week in class and lab, or
· Take English skills classes part-time while having the privilege of taking some regular college classes at Missouri Southern State College. (This option is subject to the Admission Review Committee's approval.)

Variety of Classes

A variety of English skills courses are taught at the IEDP. Grammar, writing, speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading and culture are among the core classes designed to assist students to achieve their academic and career goals. These classes are taught by caring, experienced professional instructors who are prepared to provide the maximum amount of individual academic attention and who understand the difficulties and problems international students encounter.

State-of-the-Art Language Lab

The language lab enables students to acquire English skills at their own pace and convenience. The lab features three important components to assist students in improving their English skills.
1. A speaking, listening, and conversation component enabling students to practice these skills in a modern, well-equipped language facility. A primary focus of this part of the lab will be one-on-one conversations with lab instructors
2. A reading and writing section where the students will receive individual tutoring on each assignment.
3. The latest interactive software to understand and solve English grammar problem.
