A non-high school graduate who is a resident of Missouri may qualify
for a certification of high school equivalence by passing the General
Educational Development (GED) Tests. Most colleges accept the certificate
as meeting the entrance requirement and many employers require the
certificate as a prerequisite to employment or promotion.
Is there a way to prepare to take the GED?: GED candidates, who are
testing for the first time, are strongly encouraged to attend an Adult
Education and Literacy
Center (free of
charge). At the Adult Education and Literacy Center,
GED candidates will complete a GED Demographic Survey (required to register
to test), learn how to use the calculator that can be used on Part I of the
Mathematics Test, and learn how to complete the new answer sheet (some
answers are not multiple-choice).
What is needed to be admitted to the test room?: To be admitted to
the test room, a GED candidate must bring the following three items on the
test date: an official (current) Missouri driver's license or Missouri
state I.D., an Authorization Ticket (approval form received from Jefferson
City, and a completed GED Demographic Survey (received from an Adult
Education and Learning Center). NOTE: Only Missouri driver's license or state ID's
are accepted.
Are testing aids allowed? A scientific calculator will be provided
by the Student
Support Center
for use on Part I of the Mathematics test. No other testing aids are
permitted.
Electronic equipment, including cell phones, pagers, PDA's, alarm watches,
etc., must remain turned OFF in the test room.
How much does it cost to take the GED test? It costs a total of
$40.00 to take the GED test. Two payments are required: the first $20.00
payment is to the GED Office in Jefferson
City, MO. The
second $20.00 payment is to the test center. Only money orders or cashiers
checks are accepted.

the GED test must request approval from the GED Office in Jefferson City, MO.
to test. To receive approval, send a $20.00 money order or cashier check
(payable to: GED Office) along with a completed GED application to: GED
