The use of Astronomy and Mathematics in Mayan Architecture and

Langston Hughes Celebration: Missouri Southern State
University honors Joplin-born poet and writer, Langston Hughes:
The featured speaker is Marilyn Nelson, poet laureate of the state
of Connecticut and author of Carver: A Life in Poems. 7
p.m., Webster Hall Auditorium. Free and open to the public.

day will feature appearances by State Sen. Gary Nodler at 11 a.m.,
Cornell Auditorium, Matthews Hall and by State Rep. Ron Richard at
12 noon, Connor Ballroom, Billingsly Student Center.
Southern Theatre Presents Snow White & the Seven
Dwarfs: The Musical, 2:30 p.m., Taylor Performing Arts
Center. Admission: $1 for adults, $.50 for children 12 and under.
No free passes accepted for Children's Theatre shows.
Lions Basketball vs. Missouri Western: Women at 5:30

present a variety of workshops and lectures for students and
faculty from the Theatre, International Studies, Communication,

International Film Festival presents Diamonds of the
Night (Czechoslovakia, 1964). One of the breakthrough
films of the ill-fated Czech New Wave movement, this is the story
of two boys who escape from a train heading for a Nazi
concentration camp. 7 p.m., Cornell Auditorium, Matthews Hall.
Admission: Free and open to the public.
Senior Voice Recital by Tiffany Crain, 7:30 p.m.,
