State-of-the-art bookstore opens in BSC
A new state-of-the-art bookstore opened in the newly refurbished Billingsly Student Center on Aug. 6. Faculty, staff, the news media and members of the public attended the grand opening in the lobby area just outside the bookstore on the main floor of Billingsly Student Center. Representatives from AT&T, which contributed $100,000 for technology in the new facility, were on hand for the ceremony. Part of that new technology is an inventory control management system (EAS Electronic Article Surveillance System), located at the main entrance of the bookstore. Designed by Michael Lopez Designs, Inc., the bookstore offers a much more modern shopping experience for students, parents, alumni and visitors, according to Greg Needham, Manager. Walking through BSC’s main entrance, students, visitors and shoppers are greeted with a sparkling view of 54 panels of glass from floor to ceiling. Throughout the new store almond-colored merchandising fixtures are accented with warm cherry end caps In addition to traditional bookstore fare, shoppers at the new facility are finding new merchandising displays, special retail lighting fixtures, and, probably most important to students, a wider selection of candies and snacks. The bookstore also offers a selection of magazines and movies and two flat screen LCD panels for news, information and entertainment.
