Chemistry Education degree options
Become a chemistry teacher
If you desire to teach chemistry, Missouri Southern State University offers you the following degree options:
- BSEd in Chemistry: prepares you to teach chemistry. You may concentrate on chemistry as a single teaching field, which qualifies you to teach grades 9-12, or you may choose it as one of two teaching fields, which qualifies you to teach grades K-12.
- BSEd in Unified Science, Chemistry endorsement: prepares you to teach introductory level courses in biology, chemistry, earth science and physics and to teach advanced courses in chemistry at the secondary level (grades 9-12).
BSEd In Chemistry (K-12 certification):
One of two teaching fields
- General Education Requirements: 31-32 hours
- Chemistry Requirements: 34 hours
- Supporting requirements: 20 hours
- Education Certification Requirements: 39 hours
- Second Teaching Field: 30 hours (some fields exceed 30 hours)
- Total: 154-155 hours (may vary with 2nd field)
BSEd in Chemistry (9-12 certification):
Single teaching field
- General Education Requirements: 31-32 hours
- Chemistry Requirements: 36 hours
- Supporting requirements: 30 hours
- Education Certification Requirements: 39 hours
- Total: 136-137 hours
