The Mullsjö Folkhögskola, established in 1949, is similar to an American community college. The school has an enrollment of 185 students – 60 of whom live in the residence halls – and 20 full-time faculty. Most of the Folkhögskola’s students come from the surrounding area, and 70 percent are female. Two main courses of study are available: general studies, with 80 students; and art, with 65 students. MSSU art students can select from ceramics, textiles, photography, drawing, and painting. Other available courses include economics, computer science, and international studies. Students may also do a photography internship with the renowned Swedish photographer Örjan Henriksson, a member of the Mullsjö Folkhögskola faculty.
