Institutional Effectiveness

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is person-centered servant leadership. We are servant leaders in that we are dedicated first and foremost to helping others collect, analyze, use, and disseminate data they need to further the mission of Missouri Southern.  We report to the campus; faculty and staff do not report to us. We practice transparency of institutional data because we value and respect every member of our campus community as well as potential members and government agencies desiring to know more about our institution. Our approach to assessment is person-centered. We focus on building and maintaining relationships. We believe every faculty and staff member possesses the internal resources needed to empower students for lifelong learning and success and desires to implement such resources on campus. We are not content experts of a discipline, pedagogy experts for the faculty, or top-down administrators for professional accrediting agencies. Instead, we believe that faculty and staff are the experts in their fields. Faculty and staff use their expertise to collect data that is meaningful to them. We take seriously our responsibility to help faculty and staff articulate their goals, define metrics, set targets, garner and analyze data, and discuss the findings. Synthesizing and disseminating data from the many moving parts of the University, we seek to equip individuals with information they need to realize their hopes and plans for personal fulfillment, student learning, and institutional growth and development.

Our Mission

The mission of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness is to assist campus stakeholders in acquiring and using institutional data and findings from learning outcomes assessment to make informed decisions in fulfillment of the University's Strategic Plan.
