FALL: August 15 and 16, 2013
Credit-In-Escrow • Open Registration
The credit-in-escrow program consists of university studies for outstanding high school students who have (1) completed their sophomore year, (2) a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, (3) who are pursuing the state-designated university preparatory high school curriculum, and (4) the recommendation of their principal or counselor. A high school transcript is required with the application form. An ACT score is required for students interested in enrolling in English, Math or Social Science classes. Application and approval is for one semester only. The student must apply each semester. These courses may be taken during the day or evening, and are available in the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. If the student earns a grade of "C" or better in a credit-in-escrow class, the credit for the course will be held in escrow. Upon successful completion of the course and high school graduation the credit-in-escrow will be placed on the permanent academic record. Dual-Credit/Dual Enrollment • Open Registration
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has authorized Missouri Public High Schools and Missouri Public Colleges and Universities to grant dual credit to high school students simultaneously enrolled in college and high school. Missouri Southern is pleased to participate in this program. Admission to courses for dual credit is selective, and is subject to specific conditions. Additional information may be obtained from the Director of Academic Outreach, Ms. Julie Wengert in Hearnes Hall room 315. Sixty Plus Program (60+)
Persons 60 years of age or older are encouraged to register in on-campus university courses. Each 60+ student may take three credit hours per semester with the tuition fee waived. Additional credit hours taken by the 60+ student will be reduced to 50% of regular tuition. Book rental charges, distance learning fees, ID card, parking sticker, course supplies, special course fees, and repeated courses will be the responsibility of the student. Please notify the Bursar's Office at 625-9381 or email firstname.lastname@example.org after registering for waiver to be processed. New 60+ students must be admitted to the university before they can register. To apply
for admission, contact the Admissions Office. Previous 60+ students register at the same time as other students based upon the number of credit hours they have accumulated. Previous students follow the regular student registration procedures. Sixty plus students may audit regular university courses on a space available basis. Audit permission forms must be obtained from the Registrar’s Office, Hearnes Hall. (See Auditing A Course below). After enrolling 60+ students should notify Online Academic Advising at email@example.com or (417) 625-9610. Online Advising will then notify the Bursar’s Office to adjust billing. An award may not be given if the Online Academic Advising office is not notified.
The cost to AUDIT is the same as for a credit course. The student must apply for admission, enroll in the course and obtain a "Permit to Audit" from the Registrar's Office. The signatures of the instructor as well as the Dean must be obtained. The signed "Permit to Audit" must be returned to the Registrar's Office, 101 Hearnes
Hall, by the end of the second week of classes. No change from audit to credit or from credit to audit may be made after the second week of classes.
Accommodations for students with disabilities are made on an individual basis based on the student’s current documentation. Students who need services or would like more information, should contact the Coordinator of Disability Services 417-659-3725 in the Student Success Center, Hearnes Hall, or visit the Disability Services website.
Classes and other services designed to meet the special academic needs of students are offered through the Center. The Student Success Center hours during the summer are Monday thru Thursday 7:00 A.M. -5:30 P.M. and Monday thru Friday 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M during the fall.
Tutoring in Content Areas and Writing
Peer and faculty tutors are available. Tutoring is by appointment and on a drop-in basis. Both short- and long-term assistance is provided.
University Experience (UE) 150 - College Academic Skills
A course designed to develop and strengthen an understanding of student responsibility, goals and attitudes necessary for the successful transition from secondary school to college. Active learning through critical thinking, reading and writing to support academic success at the University level will be practiced. Students will
identify learning styles and strengths and weaknesses associated with their learning processes.
Students who have pre-registered for the summer and/or fall 2013 term are required to view their student account balance on LioNet upon enrollment. No paper statement will be mailed. 100% of the student’s account balance will be due by the published due date. This balance may be paid in full, via payment(s) to the student
account, the Tuition Management payment plan (www.afford.com/mssu), authorized financial aid or a combination of these options.
SUMMER 2013 DUE DATE: THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2013 BY 5:00 P.M. 100% of the total student account balance is due in full, prior to 5:00 P.M. on Thursday of the first week of classes. Failure to remit the balance required by June 6, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. will result in an immediate cancellation of your Summer 2013 class schedule.
FALL 2013 DUE DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2013 BY 5:00 P.M. 100% of the total student account balance is due in full, prior to 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday of the second week of classes. Failure to remit the balance required by August 27, 2013 at 5:00P.M. will result in an immediate cancellation of your Fall 2013 class schedule.
FALL-Payment Deadline: 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 (prepay after this date)
Following the deadline for tuition and fee payment the Bursar’s Office will cancel the registration of students for non-payment. After the drop, students must apply to seek re-enrollment to their current class schedule (all courses). Students have a time limit of one week to apply for reinstatement but should reinstate as soon as possible in order to receive grades for the term.
Students that fail to meet the deadline may seek reinstatement but must prepay at the Bursar’s Office the estimated full amount of tuition, fees and books. The receipt for payment must be presented in the Registrar’s office before reinstatement will be considered.
TUITION AND FEE REFUND POLICY
NOTE: Dates may vary for Off-Schedule classes. Withdrawal & refund of fees information listed only pertains to full-term fall classes running from August 19 through December 6. Student must contact Registrar’s Office for information on offschedule courses. Questions about course fees for these classes must be directed to the Bursar’s Office.

Students who do not officially cancel their registration will be responsible for tuition and fees as indicated above. NON-ATTENDANCE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A WITHDRAWAL FROM CLASSES. Please confirm your registration in LioNet (not Blackboard).
WITHDRAWAL FROM A SINGLE CLASS: Beginning June 10, 2013 (summer); September 3, 2013 (fall) student must pick up a drop form in the Registrar's Office, obtain the required signatures, and return the form to the Registrar’s Office. The official date of withdrawal is the date the form is RECEIVED in the Registrar's Office.
Prior to June 10 (summer), September 3 (fall), students may contact their advisor to be dropped from a single class or use their alternative PIN to drop the class through LioNet up through the first week of class.
Distance Only students who are undeclared or pursuing a BGS may contact Online Academic Advising at firstname.lastname@example.org to request withdrawal. Distance Only students who have declared a major and have a faculty advisor must contact
their faculty advisor to discuss withdrawal and then may contact Online Academic Advising at email@example.com to request withdrawal. The faculty advisor must send an email approving the withdrawal to firstname.lastname@example.org.
WITHDRAWAL FROM ALL CLASSES: Beginning June 3, 2013(summer), August 19, 2013 (fall) student must see the university exit counselor in the Financial Aid Office, Hearnes Hall. Federal financial aid recipients who withdraw from all classes will automatically be placed on Financial Aid Suspension. Prior to June 3 summer), August 19 (fall) the student should contact their advisor to initiate a withdrawal.
FALL rental textbooks will be available for pickup beginning Monday, July 8; bookstore charges and textbook rental fees are due by 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 27.

After enrolling, a student’s book list may be found online under Student Links in LioNet.
Your book list will specify the required textbooks requested for your classes.
Rental textbooks may be picked up at Textbook Rental in the lower level of Billingsly Student Center. Textbook rental fees will be applied at the time of checkout.

SUMMER - rental books due by 4:00 P.M., Monday, July 29, 2013 – extended 25 day rental period of $12 per hour, per book if returned by Friday, August 23, 2013.
FALL - rental books due by 4:00 P.M., Monday, December 16, 2013 – extended 30 day rental period of $12 per hour, per book if returned by Friday, January 17, 2014.
Parking Permits - Parking permits are available at the Campus Card Service Center, BSC 109 (lower level of Billingsly Student Center).
Lion Card IDs - Lion Card IDs are available at the Campus Card Service Center, BSC 109 (lower level of Billingsly Student Center).
Residence Life – (On Campus Residence Requirements)
All first year students under the age of 21 are required to live in the Missouri Southern Residence Halls to the extent space is available, unless they are married, live with their parents or are excused by the Director of Housing.
Grade reports will be available online through LioNet. If you need a hard copy, you may request it at the Registrar’s Office or through LioNet.
