October 19-20 the MSSU Mock Trial squad competed in the Northwest Bearcat Invitational. Missouri Southern sent two teams to compete (12 students total). Only one-third of the team had previously competed. Our teams competed against KU, Washburn, and South Dakota among others. Receiving top attorney awards (about six were given out among 12 teams) were Jessica Andrews, senior political science student (and first time mocker!) and Johnathan Saunders, senior political science student. "We brought home some wonderful awards," says JoAnna Derfelt, political science faculty member. "We are very proud of these students and the teams who helped earn them the win."
The teams will combine for their next outing at the Billiken Barrister Tournament in St. Louis Oct. 26-28.
