First Semester at Missouri Southern: Fall 1987

Education:

  • Bachelor's (B.A.), Kalamazoo College
  • Master's (M.A.), Columbia University
  • Master's (M.A.), University of Rochester
  • Doctorate (Ph.D.), University of Rochester

I earned a BA in English Literature at Kalamazoo College, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and MA in Philosophy at Columbia University, in New York City, and a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York.  I have also studied at Queens College, in New York City, at the University of London, and at the University of Hyderabad, in India.  Before coming to Missouri Southern, I taught for three years at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia.  My doctoral dissertation at Rochester was in the field of Philosophy of Logic and Language.  I developed and proved soundness and completeness of a formal semantic system that attempted to address the age-old philosophical debate between nominalists and platonists about how language can be used to talk about things that do not exist.

I enjoy travel abroad and have participated in or led student groups on trips to India, Greece, and Rome.  I also enjoy playing racquetball and guitar.
