KGCS Provides a Variety of Programming
KGCS airs programming from America One and a variety of other sources. The program structure is designed to meet the educational and informational needs of the community and the University. 

The America One  network presents a variety of programming,  such as: classic Western movies and television series, sports programs -including Canadian Football League games, outdoor shows and auto racing, music programs, lifestyle programs focusing on topics such as cooking and gardening, news and information programs featuring business news, and children’s programming. 

Missouri Southern Television supplements the network at various times to offer programming to serve area needs and interests.

America One Youth Shows

A satellite service from The Classic Arts Showcase features classical music and arts performances, including animation, architectural art, ballet, chamber and choral music, dance, folk art, museum art, musical theater, opera, orchestral, recital, solo vocal and theatrical performances.  Programming also includes classic film and archival documentaries.
 
 

KGCS is proud to provide programming  from The Sportsman Channel. The network provides a variety of outdoor hunting and fishing programs.

The Sportsman Channel programming airs in the mornings and on the weekends on KGCS-TV.

Missouri Outdoors

KGCS proudly presents the award-winning outdoor series, produced by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Programs feature the outdoor beauty and wildlife from around the state. Missouri Outdoors airs Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m.

STUDENT PRODUCTIONS 

 
   
In addition to direct involvement with station operations, students produce many of the local programs airing on KGCS-LP.  Most of the productions are completed as extracurricular activities outside of course requirements.  Students follow specific guidelines and procedures throughout the production process, from submitting program ideas to approval of programs for airing. 
   
   

Community Interest Programming

KGCS produces a number of programs focusing on issues and organizations in the Joplin-area community. They include:

 
 
Newsmakers - A news/interview program hosted by Judy Stiles, featuring guests and current events in local news.  In addition to airing on KGCS-TV, the programs also air on KOAM-TV and KOZJ-TV in Joplin.
 
Joplin CVB Program - An interview program featuring Joplin-area activities and tourism news, presented by the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
 
Chamber Chat - A quarterly program hosted by representatives of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, sharing information about Chamber activities and programs. http://www.joplincc.com/
 

Governmental Coverage

KGCS brings Joplin-area viewers coverage of various governmental groups. They include:

 
Joplin City Council - Live coverage of council meetings, held at 6:00 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month, with replays airing the following Tuesday evening. http://www.joplinmo.org/

MSSU Programs

KGCS provides programming highlighting some of the many activities and programs at Missouri Southern. Programs include:

 

Southern Cooks - A cooking show, hosted by Debbie Cash, featuring recipes from the MSSU campus-wide cookbook, "Favorite Recipes" a collection of recipes shared by staff, faculty, and students of MSSU.

 
Southern Reflections - An interview program featuring retiring faculty members from Missouri Southern State University, reflecting on their careers and history of the University.
 

Southern Sports Sunday - Tape-delayed coverage of Missouri Southern State University Southern football in the fall and Southern women's and men's basketball  games during the winter.   
 

                                                                                                                        

 
KGCS Campus Update - A student-produced newscast, featuring news and interviews focusing on campus activities.
 
MSSU Lecture Series - Tapes of lecture presentations made by guests appearing on campus throughout the year.
